Terms of Service for Virtual (Zoom) Sessions

The Institute for Perinatal Education and Advocacy (IPEA)

Last updated: July 31, 2026

By joining a Zoom session, class, workshop, or consultation hosted by The Institute for Perinatal Education and Advocacy (“IPEA,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), you (“participant,” “you”) agree to the following terms.

1. Educational Purpose Only — Not Medical Advice

All content shared during IPEA sessions is provided for general educational and informational purposes only. Nothing said, demonstrated, or discussed during a session constitutes medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and no provider-patient relationship is created between you and IPEA, its staff, or facilitators as a result of your participation.

You should always seek the advice of your physician, midwife, or other qualified health care provider with any questions you may have regarding a medical condition, pregnancy, postpartum recovery, or your baby’s health. Never disregard professional medical advice or delay seeking it because of something you heard in an IPEA session.

2. Emergencies

IPEA sessions are not monitored for medical emergencies and are not a substitute for emergency care. If you or your baby are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 (or your local emergency number) or go to the nearest emergency room immediately. Do not use the chat, messaging, or Q&A features of a session to report an emergency.

3. Respect and Conduct

We are committed to providing a respectful, supportive, and inclusive environment for all participants. By joining a session, you agree to:

  • Treat facilitators and fellow participants with courtesy and respect.
  • Refrain from harassment, discrimination, or disruptive behavior of any kind.
  • Allow others to share their experiences and questions without judgment.

IPEA reserves the right to remove any participant from a session, and to restrict access to future sessions, for conduct it reasonably determines to be disrespectful, disruptive, or harmful to the group.

4. Confidentiality

What is shared in a session is personal. All participants are expected to keep the stories, health information, and personal experiences shared by others in the session confidential, and not to repeat or disclose them outside the session.

IPEA will handle any personal or health information you share with the same care and discretion, consistent with our privacy practices, but please be aware that group sessions are not a HIPAA-covered clinical encounter, and confidentiality in a group setting can never be guaranteed absolutely.

5. Recording

IPEA sessions are occasionally recorded, however only the presenters screen. Even when recording is taking place it is without participant information or the Q and A session that follows. If a session is recorded for any reason, participants will be informed before the session begins and given the option to keep their camera off or use a name/initials of their choosing. Participants may not record, screenshot, or otherwise capture any part of a session without the express written permission of IPEA.

6. Technology and Connectivity

IPEA is not responsible for interruptions, delays, or loss of connection caused by your internet service, device, or the Zoom platform itself. We recommend joining a few minutes early to test your connection.

7. No Guarantee of Outcomes

Every pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experience is unique. IPEA does not guarantee any specific outcome, result, or experience from participation in our sessions, classes, or programs.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, IPEA, its founders, staff, and facilitators shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising out of or related to your participation in a virtual session, including but not limited to reliance on any information shared during that session.

9. Changes to These Terms

IPEA may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Continued participation in IPEA sessions after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.

10. Questions

If you have questions about these terms, please contact us before your session begins.

By joining a Zoom session with IPEA, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms of Service.
